Steps to Becoming a Driving Instructor
Geared2Pass is your top choice for manual driving lessons in Walsall and the surrounding areas. Here’s why:
Check Your Eligibility:
Before starting your journey, ensure you meet the basic requirements: a full UK driving license held for at least three years, with no more than six penalty points. You can check your eligibility on the GOV.UK site here.
Before you can begin the testing process to become an ADI you must have held a full licence for three years (a foreign or automatic licence can count towards the three years). You must also be able to read a vehicle number plate from a minimum of 27.5 metres (90 feet) and pass the DVSA three part driving instructor examinations – Head to our Driving Instructor Tests section for more details.
If your licence has penalty points (generally a maximum of 4 or 6) it is unlikely to affect your application and those points already spent will not count but you must not have been disqualified from driving during the last four years. So to start check your eligibility on the GOV.UK site here.
DBS through DVSA
To become a driving instructor you will need to have had a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) obtained through the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) contractor, Capita Recruitment Vetting Service (CRVS). You can check more out here and here.
